Lesson earned: You can't say you have everything until you have a custom-built Audi limo more than a meter longer than the regular one.

Audi announced Monday morning that it has built a custom A8L Extended limousine for an anonymous European customer. The six-door land yacht clocks in at 20.9 feet long — 3.6 feet longer than the already lengthy 17.3-foot-long A8L.
For some reason, the owner specified the that four rear seats not face one another, as they do in most limos. Instead, they all face forward. Presumably, this person doesn't want to look at or talk to the passengers they travel with.
For as neat as this car is, along with its 7.9-foot glass roof panel, it sort of reminds me of that scene from The Simpsons in which Hans Moleman calls for a large seed bell to quell a Hitchcockian bird uprising at the bird sanctuary.
When I look at this car I can imagine the owner having a similar conversation with the Audi people. That's because this A8L Extended is perhaps too big. I mean the thing just looks like exactly what it is: a bigger Audi. There's no flare, no drama to the design.
Despite my misgivings on Audi's ability to embiggen (a perfectly cromulent word) the car while retaining exterior zazz, it's no slouch. The car is powered by a 310-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 that will rocket it to 62 mph from a standstill in 7.1 seconds.
Amazingly, since having first divulged the existence of this car, Audi has received many more orders for it from other well heeled buyers.
